BIO - Russell Iles Principal, Iles Business Marketing Russell Iles is Principal of Iles Business Marketing, consultants exclusive to the legal profession. Born and bred in Adelaide and educated at Urrbrae Agricultural High School, Russell's path to marketing consultant has included a range of sales and marketing roles over the years within the agricultural, industrial and financial services sectors. Most recently he operated a financial advisory firm for 12 years before establishing Iles Business Marketing in 2006. Throughout his career, Russell has prided himself on perpetual education and professional development. Further to his sales, marketing and financial advsiory expertise, he also possesses finely-tuned skills in advertising, public relations and group addresses on topics related to marketing. Additionally, Russell is proficient in preparing written and printed presentations, budgets and financial reports, and is adept at providing counsel on a series of matters, such as business development, business finance, staff training, leadership, conflict management and integrity. He also has a wealth of experience in senior management, company succession planning, with solicitors, accountants, sole traders and family owned business through his former clients and company management roles. His never ending pursuit for professional development has also seen him involved in a number of key industry bodies. A former South Australian President, Secretary and Committee member of the Australian Lifewriters Association and Director of the Association of Financial Advisors (Canberra). He was also an South Australian Chairman and Committee member of AFA. Board experience has, amongst other things, enhanced his event management skills, having directed major events at national and state level for the Association. Importantly, he is also very community-minded. Russell enjoys his involvement with local government, having contributed to community committees for the Marion and Light Regional Council. He is also a Justice of the Peace. Russell has also held the position of Director and Deputy Chairman for local organisation Barossa Enterprises and is a volunteer for the Legacy Club of Adelaide and is a past volunteer (pre-Arthritis) Camp Quality Companion. Russell was a candidate for state politics and during vintage drives a "B" Double which he describes as a very interesting aspect of life due to the publics disparate views of that industry, but it helps to keep his feet firmly planted on the ground. Russell's focus is on lawyer marketing through Education/Permission based marketing. As such, his ideology revolves around marketing as opposed to selling, knowing that, if you market your professional services properly, you don't have to go down the sales pitch path. Russell is an avid reader, self-confessed addict of too much good food, dining and fortifieds, along with being a self confessed slightly quirky extrovert which fits comfortably with the percieved traditionally conservative legal profession. Russell is not good at it, but he loves his boat fishing. He is very much W.Y.S.I.W.Y.G. kind of person - no pretense here. He is widely regarded for his sense of humour and his forthright approach, which aggravates some but enriches those that act apon his advice.
